“Join me as I Open the door to HOPE and Shine the light on GIVING…”

Dear Fellow Employees -

As I note the changes going on around us - in our neighborhoods, in our country and in our world – I take comfort from the security that has always been available to me from my family and friends. During uncertain economic times like these, it can be a real source of strength to know that there are people who care close by to help.

For over 45 years, that’s what the Combined Federal Campaign has been for many – a comforting friend in stressful situations. As many stories flood the media about the changes in funding for charities in Southeastern Michigan and the rest of the country, we the federal employee, should have nothing to fear. The mission of the CFC remains the same - to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

The CFC remains our only annual charity drive and our easiest option to give support to those charities that are closest to our hearts. I am proud to join you, my co-workers, as we continue our long tradition of charitable giving and community service to Southeastern Michigan. We have consistently brought hope to bleak situations when we have come together to offer aid.

Through the CFC, you and I can continue to support the hard work of charities that tirelessly provide for those in need of food, shelter or medical care. Because we care about our neighbors and our community, we have supported the goals of the CFC; knowing our concern would help countless children, families and seniors.

As 2008 Campaign Chair, I am excited to respond to the call to “Open the Door to Hope…Shine the Light on Giving”. I am optimistic that you will join me in offering every co-worker the chance to make the same difference. Each of us has a unique opportunity to make lasting changes and help build a stronger region.

You, my fellow CFC members, are an example of all that is great about federal employees. I look forward to serving you for the duration of this challenging campaign.

Thanks for joining in, and for helping to Shine the Light on Giving!
