Each national and international charity is screened by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on a random basis. Each local charity is screened by representatives of the Local Federal Coordinating Committee here in Southeast Michigan. All charities must meet a set of criteria that is established by OPM. The criteria include a detailed review of their financial programs and governance practices. Bottom line – charities are in the Charity List because they satisfied federal workers just like you that they met the criteria established by OPM.
